Since 2013 Apple has released two iPhones a year. In 2014 they released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and in 2015 they released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. But it seems this year is going to see more iPhone releases than any other year.

About 3 weeks ago (March 21st 2016) we welcomed iPhone SE into the Nigeria market and also a new iPad was added to the iPad Pro range, the iPad Pro 9.7 inch.

Now rumor has it that before the end of 2016 we will see three more iPhones being launched, the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro.

Upcoming 2016 iPhones

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will likely be officially released in September 2016. Whether iPhone 7 Pro surfaces in 2016 remains to be seen.

iPhone 7, 7 Plus and 7 Pro Specs

iPhone 7 Expected Features

  • No headphone jack
  • Dual-lens camera for iPhone 7 Plus
  • Thinner design, but similar to iPhone 6s
  • Redesigned antenna bands
  • Upgraded processor
  • Two screen sizes
  • Pack a bigger battery than ever

Following iPhone’s history, Apple changes their smartphone design once every two years.

2010 – iPhone 4 (new design)
2011 – iPhone 4s
2012 – iPhone 5 (new design)
2013 – iPhone 5s
2014 – iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (new design)
2015 – iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

So you see a new design is due for 2016 and that’s the word around, that the iPhone 7 range is going to bring a new design of iPhone.

And we’re expecting some upgrade too. In 2015 we saw an upgrade which introduced new features such as improved camera and a better processor. In 2016 will see even more upgrade and it will include the new design as mentioned and new features.

For the screen size of iPhone 7 we hear Apple intends to stick to the 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen sizes which they first introduced with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. But we’re unsure of what the design will look like since it is still being worked on.

However rumors has it that it continues to use a design similar to that of iPhone 6s but thinner, as thin as 6.1 mm iPod touch. Some even say iPhone 7 will be the thinnest iPhone ever.

At a time there was a lot of report that the iPhone 7 will use a dual-sensor setup but recent reports claim this could be a feature exclusive to iPhone 7 Pro.

A well regarded analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo says iPhone 7 may come equipped with a dual-camera configuration, complete with an optical Zoom capability. And that 7 Pro will get the dual-camera technology.

But dual-camera is only to be expected on the 5.5 inch iPhones only not on 4.7 inch.

We’re not expecting the S model of iPhone 7 series such as iPhone 7S and 7S Plus. Apple will ditch the S models and move to iPhone 8 in 2017.

As soon as any of the iPhones becomes available in Nigerian market there will be an update about it on the blog.
